Recently, all our team members at Escuela Colombiana de Rehabilitación (ECR) participated in an English placement test. This assessment allows each individual to gain insight into their current English proficiency level, helping to identify areas of strength and those needing improvement.
This test was developed with the valuable contribution of our English team, whose experience greatly aided the test’s creation and implementation. The test serves as a tool the English team used to assess team members’ skills across reading, writing, listening, and speaking. It identifies strengths and weaknesses in each evaluated skill. Quality was ensured through feedback from an external evaluator, who confirmed the test was ready for administration to the team at ECR. Subsequently, the exam was piloted with select team members, which further validated its readiness. The results obtained from the test will benefit both the English team and participants by accurately identifying their current English levels.
Understanding your English level is important as it guides your learning path and helps you focus on developing specific skills. English is an essential language in university settings, providing access to a broad range of academic resources and facilitating communication with peers and instructors. Additionally, strong English skills open doors to better academic and professional opportunities in the future.
To support your ongoing language development, we continue to host conversation clubs every Thursday. These sessions offer engaging activities to practice speaking in a friendly and supportive environment. We also offer an alternative option for those who are unable to participate in our speaking clubs: a monthly webinar. In this webinar, a special guest will present on a specific topic, allowing participants to observe their expertise and gain new vocabulary as well as valuable information. We encourage you to take full advantage of these opportunities to improve your skills and speak with our English teachers, who are always ready to help you practice.
